SSL Certificates...

Secure Your Site with a 128 bit SSL Certificate
We have partnered with a leading issuer of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificates to bring you industry standard 128-bit encryption to your site's sensitive data or ecommerce area.

What is SSL?
SSL is a security technology that is commonly used to secure server to browser transactions. This generally includes the securing of any information passed by a browser (such as a customer's credit card number or password) to a webserver (such as an online store). SSL protects data submitted over the Internet from being intercepted and viewed by unintended recipients. Whenever a browser connects to a webserver (website) over https:// - this signifies that the communication will be encrypted and secure. In order to get SSL for your website you first need an SSL Certificate. Your SSL Certificate is installed onto your webserver and allows you to access the security functionality of your webserver and ultimately let your customers know that your site is secure.

Why would I need SSL?
If you plan to take credit cards online, or if your customers are submitting sensitive information via the web such as usernames, passwords, personal details, etc. then you should be using SSL to secure the data in transit. It is also expected by your customers that you will use SSL for e-commerce.

How do website visitors know if my site is using SSL?
When your visitor connects to your webserver using SSL they will see that the http:// changes to https:// and also a small gold padlock will appear in their browser. You can click on the padlock to see the certificate.

What is a Certification Authority (CA)?
Not just anybody can issue trusted SSL Certificates. If they could then there would be no trust in SSL - and it could no longer be used commercially. Instead only Certification Authorities, or CAs as they are commonly known, can issue trusted SSL Certificates. CAs have generally invested in establishing the technology, support, legal and commercial infrastructures associated with providing SSL certificates. Even though CAs are essentially self-regulated, the nearest to a governing body is the WebTrust compliancy program operated by AICPA/CICA:

What do I need to order an SSL Certificate for my site?
No matter what type of certificate you order, a certificate is for a specific web site on a specific server. As for the specific site, please understand in terms of SSL certificates, All these sites are different:

You need to determine, what address you want to utilize the certificate with. Subdomains are considered a different site and the www prefix is different from the standard site URL. It makes no difference which site you protect, however you need to determine the site before ordering the certificate. Any pages or folder under your site can be protected via the SSL certificate (http://yoursite.com/folder/page.html).

You will also need a dedicated IP setup and propagated for your specific site or subdomain. Lastly, you will need the server's Certificate Signing Request which can be obtained through the control panel.

What is the ordering process?
Click the "Order Now" button below. You will be directed to our store to order the certificate. In the near future you will receive an email to approve the purchase and installation of the certificate at the email address listed in the Whois database for your domain name. Please make sure you have access to that email address or indicate to that person to approve when requested. Your certificate will be ready within 24 hours and we will email you upon the successful installation.
